About the Role
As the Legal Officer, you will provide legal support across Maxima’s content, production, and commercial operations. You will manage contracts, advise on intellectual property and regulatory matters, and help ensure the organisation’s legal and compliance requirements are met.
What You'll Do
• Draft, review, and vet contracts, including talent, production, licensing, sponsorship, advertising, and vendor agreements.
• Advise on intellectual property, copyright, trademarks, and content licensing.
• Review content and commercial activities for legal and regulatory risks.
• Provide legal guidance to editorial, production, and commercial teams.
• Support regulatory filings, statutory compliance, and corporate records.
• Manage legal documentation, disputes, complaints, and regulatory matters.
• Monitor relevant legal and regulatory developments and advise management.
• Conduct legal research and due diligence for partnerships and commercial engagements.
Requirements & Specs
• LL.B and B.L. (called to the Nigerian Bar).
• 1–6 years of post-call experience.
• Membership of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in good standing.
• Knowledge of Nigerian corporate, commercial, media, and intellectual property law.
• Familiarity with the NBC Code, copyright, advertising, and data protection regulations is an advantage.
• Strong contract drafting, legal research, analytical, and communication skills.
• High level of integrity, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
